For the reflections contest Alexa did the 3D art. She won 1st place and is really excited that her art will go to the next level. She did not know she won 1st place until after school because there were several students who received trophies in each category. She used many different mediums and textures and I thought it turned out really fun. The theme was diversity and she chose diversity means no two are the same. She did two of everything. She also found her box at the D.I. on our family night out for $1.50 and knew immediately what she wanted to do. She had a lot of fun finding things around the house to make things look different (paper towels, newspaper, left over easter grass, toothpicks, tissue paper, aluminum foil, taffy wrappers, felt, a piece of a cereal box for the inside of her "owl" hole in the tree and of course raiding my supplies of buttons, ribbon, stickers, jewels, pom poms, pipe cleaners, tulle, etc. She loves art and now thinks we need to start on Christmas gifts because she just cannot stop doodling, drawing, painting and having fun with art.
